The experience of riding a BMX bike is no longer limited to an off track course, or even the streets for that matter as in freestyle BMX. Virtual courses are now available where fans of BMX bikes can perform all their favorite tricks in the form of free BMX games online. The following for BMX bikes began in the early seventies with children riding their bikes off road, looking to resemble a motorbike. Sometime after that, with some fans lacking the off road track to join in the fun, freestyle BMX emerged in the streets. Here children would ride their bike amidst stairs, hand rails and the infamous half pipe or vert. Nowadays, the following for these bikes is even larger and the experience can also be lived through the use of BMX online games available free in the internet.
Some applications like Six Trix BMX offer the player a multimedia experience of riding a BMX game, all in the comfort of your laptop or desktop computer. This BMX game for example, offers the player a choice of course to ride in, as well as a choice of rider. Only one choice is available in the demo version available in most websites, these serve to promote the full version which is only available at the developer’s site. The included set of controls allows the player to use the arrow keys to move the bike forward and backwards, and change direction as well. The game also instructs the player to use the space bar to jump, and the ‘Z’ and ‘X’ keys in combination with the arrow keys to perform various stunts and tricks. The ‘M’ key will toggle the music, while the ‘Esc’ key will return the player to the main menu.
Game play is very straight forward. The player must ride through the course and earn as many points possible by performing various stunts within the allotted time frame. The more tricks performed during the ride the more points will be awarded to your final score. This online BMX game features a special CL meter, depicting the player’s confidence level. A high confidence level or CL is required in order to perform certain special tricks. In order to increase your CL, the player must successfully perform a few stunts in a row. Falling down will decrease your CL, and hinder you from performing more complicated tricks.
The developer goes on to explain how the full version includes 35 special tricks the player may perform, four different courses and more characters to choose from. As far as mechanics and animations, this BMX online game is among the most rudimentary applications out there. It is more of a cartoon like application catering a younger crowd. But for good time’s sake, it is a fun game nonetheless, and will surely bring a smile to the face of any BMX game fan.

The BMX bike has enjoyed a remarkable rise to fame. Thought to have originated in southern California nearly 40 years ago and now taking its place across the world in China’s hosting of the Olympic Games is nothing short of astonishing.
BMX or bicycle motocross to give its full name has become an Olympic sport for the first time in 2008. BMX bikes first burst onto the scene in the early seventies and have grown in popularity ever since, culminating in this year’s debut appearance at the Beijing Olympic Games.
Growing interest in extreme sports generally has clearly helped this two wheeled (in particular where freestyle is concerned) success story. Video game culture has also encouraged interest with a string of BMX titles in recent years, some of which I have enjoyed playing myself. The positive sales figures from these games, in turn making some riders household names and celebrities, far beyond what could have been imagined when kids first started asking Santa Claus for a BMX at Christmas.
Relatively small and easy to manoeuvre and with a host of off road places to ride, the BMX is very versatile with both freestyle and racing versions of the sport competing to high levels pretty much world wide.
In June 2008, 45 spots were awarded to 17 nations for the Elite men category and 11 nations in the Elite women category for the Beijing Games. This year its only the racing side of BMX that the Olympics is hosting but it is probably only a matter of time as the BMX profile goes from strength to strength before the sport enjoys even more events and exposure at future Games.
Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st August 2008 were the dates all BMX fans worldwide were looking forward to as their beloved sport made its bow at the Olympics with qualifying, seeding and quarter final runs all taking place for both men and women on day one.
So it’s welcome to the Olympic Games for all things BMX. The wheels are showing no signs of slowing down, let alone falling off.

It may be nice having so many companies to choose from but it also can make it even more difficult for you to make a decision on which one to go with. Choosing a brand, however, is the least of your problems and you should also think about these factors listed below.
Style – There are quite a few different styles of BMX bicycles to consider and each one is unique in their own way. Racing bikes are usually lean and aerodynamic; freestyle bikes are often lightweight and durable. Other types of BMX include trick and dirt jump styles.
Construction – All bikes are not made equally. Some cycles are constructed from quality materials like Chromoly or even carbon fiber, and these are considered to be the best. The cheaper models are often made from aluminum or other types of low-grade steel.
Weight - Weight plays a big factor in how well you perform on your bike. The lighter the bike, the easier it is to control. Anything less than 30 pounds is ideal for both racing and freestyle. The lightest BMX bicycles usually weigh between 23 and 25 pounds.
Size – The last thing to keep in mind when you’re shopping for a new bike is the size. BMX bikes come in plenty of sizes from as small as twelve inches to as large as 24 inches. The standard size for adults is 20 inches, for teens it is either 18 or 16 inches, and for kids it is 12 to 14 inches.

Upgrading your bike with a new BMX stem will customize your ride to your comfort level. With an aftermarket BMX stem you determine your reach distance and how high or low you want your BMX handlebars to set. You can give your bike a completely new image by purchasing BMX pegs to match the stem and other coordinating accessories as well.
You will find many styles of BMX stems available-enough to match every personality. Beyond just color and texture decisions, you must choose between quill-type stems and threadless. When you install the stem, the threadless type will clamp onto the steerer. The older quill style, however, attaches to the inside of the tube by compression.
These stems are also rated according to the angle. When looking to upgrade a bike, test out a couple styles or at least get a close idea of what angle you need so that you buy a product in keeping with your needs. You do not want to have to adapt to an awkward bike (and a backache) if you purchased the wrong stem.
Each day seems to bring a new style or development to bike stems. Aluminum alloy stems provide a cost savings most of the time except for the high-grade alloys which cost much more than the carbon stems. Carbon fiber stems add strength, less weight, and help absorb a lot more road vibrations, although they cost a slight bit more than most aluminum stems. On some bikes a titanium stem adds a special touch, reduces weight, and costs a bit more than most aluminum or carbon types. When shopping, you may go for the more functional stems from companies like Black Ops or Thompson. North Shore Billet and Chromag offer direct mount stems for certain bike types. Others may choose from the many designs by Shadow Conspiracy, Sputnik, Animal, and Kore, to name a few.
When you shop for the stem, know the size of your handlebars and the steerer tube. Once these details are known, you can decide on length and drop. In particular, stem length controls the response of the front wheel-longer stems delay response where shorter ones turn more quickly. Depending on your past scar record, you may also want to consider a more streamlined or rounded stem to avoid sharp edges that may injure.
With a well chosen BMX stem, you can relax as your bike stands out from the rest.

If you are ever near Albany Georgia, the hometown of Ray Charles and Ray Stevens you will find a lot of sites to see. The Riverquarium, the Veteran’s Park, the bike and pedestrian path down the Flint near the Civic Center and one of the best places to visit is the Parks at Chehaw.
The Parks at Chehaw often just referred to as Chehaw by the locals is a unique park where you can picnic, camp, go to the zoo, ride the train, camp or even Race your BMX bike on one of the newest old tracks in Georgia.
In fact if you decide to race in Albany at Chehaw BMX, you will be racing with some of the best riders in the State of Georgia. You see team Chehaw took 1st Place for the Day at the Georgia State Championships and 3rd place for the year overall.
The BMX Track was host to both a Georgia State Qualifier and the Georgia State Championship in 2009. It is an NBL Sanctioned Track and was rebuilt in 2009. The track has been doing quite well the past 7 years under the direction of Ricky Lawrence. Ricky has been the track director for several years now and has vowed that even though he was stepping down as track director he would still be around the track to help out. Seems this BMX thing gets in your blood. BMX was not really around much when I was growing up, since it really didn’t start until the mid 70′s and really didn’t take on in a real big way for several years. My son was born in 76 and even as he was growing up it had not really matured to the point it is now.
Our two grandson’s Jason 10 and Kevin 8 both race BMX Bikes with Chehaw BMX as their home track. Jason and Kevin both took 3rd place trophies in their respective brackets at the State Championship in October 2009.
Just in case you don’t know much about BMX, I am going to explain how it works. When I took Jason to his first race as an 8 year old, yes this will be his 3rd year racing, I really didn’t know much about how it works, how it was scored or anything really accept that they raced the bikes around a track with hills built in and corners so they had to have some good handling skills.
BMX is Bicycle Moto Cross, after MX or Moto Cross done on motor bikes. Now we also have Cyclo Cross which is another take off MX but with bigger bikes and for the most part older participants.
A Race consists of 3 Motos, but if for some reason such as bad weather they can only get in two motos there is an option called a 2 moto transfer where your finish is based on your placement in the 2 motos that were complete and the 3rd moto is thrown out. Scoring can get real tricky sometimes because of birthdays many riders will ride in a different category at the State Finals then they do during the year. Jason competed all year until August as a 9 year old then August and September and the State Finals as a 10 year old. Kevin competed as a 7 year old right up until the State Championship and had to compete with 8 year olds in the championship. His birthday is October 1, and the State Championship was October 3rd.
It does get confusing but it always seems to workout and it is tremendous fun for the kids. BMX is unique in many ways.

Many companies all over the world produce different kinds of bicycles in order to satisfy customers’ needs. Now you can choose from the different kinds of bikes the one that goes very well with you.
People all over the world consider bicycles as a very comfortable and safe vehicle. In the East and Asian countries people use simple models of bicycles, Europeans produce majority of modern models. The popularity of bicycles becomes clear according to their availability and ecological compatibility. Bikes are actively used in sport. New models gain hearts of cycle racing’s fans. Different kinds of bicycles are notable with combination of wheel’s diameter and amortization’s type but for several inclusions.
According the quantity of amortization all the bicycles may be differing to following types:
Rigid bicycles. These bikes have no any shock absorber. These are highway bicycles and BMX bikes. Also this kind includes some urban bikes and simple mountain bikes.
Hard Tail bikes. This group of bikes has a lobby depreciation fork. The lobby depreciation fork makes bike more manoeuvrable and as a result provides more comfort during riding. Fork’s operation sweeps from 30 to 300 millimeters and depends on the bikes purpose.
Full Suspension bicycles are applied to the different kinds of bicycles with front and back amortization. Usually these are bikes for driving on short distances.
Soft Tail bikes have front amortization fork, styluses of the back triangle. These bikes are made specially for extra-amortization. Mostly, there are expensive specialized sport bikes.
Nowadays there are four main types of bicycles: city bicycles, highway bicycles, mountain bikes and special bikes. But besides that there is huge number of subspecies. All the other models are different combinations of these four types.
Highway bikes do ideally for asphalt driving. They can gather speed quickly due to narrow tires and lightweight corpus.
City bicycles are destined for city driving. They can’t gather such speed as highway bicycles but they are easy-in-use. They have comfortable saddle and good amortization. Speed can be switched even if your bike is at rest. The only lack of city bikes is their heaviness. The main preference is safety and simple service.
Mountain bike will help you to cope with hummocks and rugged country. They often have wide number of modes and speeds, wide tires, heavy and strong wheels, and amortization fork of handlebars. Some models have a back hanger bracket.
Touristic bikes are close to highway bikes. But their corpus is stronger and construction is safer. They allow transportation of heavy load.
In the latest years BMX (Bike MotoCross) has become very popular type of bicycles for competitions.
Trial bikes differ from the other different kinds of bicycles with their construction. Usually trial bikes don’t have a saddle and amortization. They are supplied with wide snow tires to improve clutch. Pedals are equipped with tires. This type of bicycles often has hydraulic brake.
Tandems are the bicycles for two persons. During the riding one biker sits in front of another.
In contrast to the other different kinds of bicycles electric bike is furnished with electric engine. Such a bike allows the beginner to surmount slopes, easily ride uphill and overcome 50 km during an hour.
Hybrid comfort bikes are one of the most universal from the different kinds of bikes. Hybrid comfort bikes are partly possessed of mountain and highway bikes’ characteristics. Hybrid comfort bikes have wheels with diameter to 28 inches as highway bikes do have. The equipment is similar to the mountain bikes’.

BMX Parks are either made of wood or they come in concrete forms. In most cases, the parks meant for BMX riders are council supplied parks made of metal. The style of riding determines whether the parks are made of wood or concrete. Parks made of wood are apt for technical rides while concrete allows a fast flowing style. Riders who are always in look for gaps and have an aim to fly from the coping generally like the hasty style.
Parks for BMX riders – places to try out skills
In most concrete parks, you are sure to come across several bowls and pools. However, if you prefer you can even merge the two riding styles inside one particular park form. Most concrete parks for BMX riders are built outdoors for their capacity to endure years of several climactic withering and torturing. Building a concrete park is quite an expensive venture for which contributions from different sources are put together to give form to such a concrete open space.
Most commercial BMX squares are made of wood. Some of the reasons for this have been successfully listed below.
1. Wooden parks are more easy to construct
2. Materials required for the construction are easily available
3. The cost of construction is comparatively less
4. It is safer to fall on wood then on concrete. You will not be severely injured
5. If the park is particularly meant for BMX riders, it should have steel coping, which cannot be easily damaged
Quarter pipes, spines, flat banks, wall rides, mini ramps and hips are some of the common obstacles included in the wooden parks meant for BMX riders. Irrespective of the fact that whether you are an inexperienced beginner or an experienced old hand, the parks present opportunities for riders of every level.
There are some parks specifically meant for novice and children while the others allow challenging jumps for more talented and in-art riders. These specific riding domains have provisions for more than forty jumps along with several banked turns.
Throughout the year, BMX riders are allowed to practice their skills on the park during the early hours of the day. Riders when practicing within the park should wear helmets and when juniors practice, they should be kept under the strict supervision of the seniors.
A park for the BMX riders can be both privately or public owned. If you enter a private BMX or state park, you have to pay admission fees. On the other hand, parks with no private ownership will charge you nothing. You will get to see private BMX or state parks within buildings with tall ceilings, roller rinks or warehouses.
If you are an expert BMX rider, you make sure to practice your techniques inside a state park as a means to sharpen your skills.
