BMX racing involves off road bicycle competitions and are usually very thrilling. The kind of bikes used here are strong and lightweight. These bicycles are built in such a way that they are able to handle well the heavy landings resulting from the tricks and jumps performed by riders in these kind of competitions.
BMX racing can be an individual sport or be organized by a team. They are generally organized for business exposure. Various companies may sponsor these competitions for their advertisements. They can be conducted for country championships along with business exposure. Various skills such as bike handling and quickness of the riders are brought to test in these competitions.
BMX racing is usually are facilitated by international sanctioning bodies such as UCI, American Bicycle Association and National bicycle League. There are usually some rules that govern these competitions. Some of the common age groups that participate in these competitions are; children of ages 9- 10, and professionals of ages 18 -21. This category is further divided into the men and women professionals.
These kind of races give a thrilling experience to both the rider and the spectators. This is made possible by the the tracks which are twisted with dirt heaps. The competitions is even made more challenging by the tracks that are banked and kept with flat corners. This resistance is added to the tracks so as to increase exhilaration and fun. Various styles of take offs and landings of the jumps also increase the excitement in the races.
