If you love BMX bikes and you’ve had one for years, you most probably have gone bored with your BMX bike’s color. At times, you feel that your BMX bike frame looks too ordinary and commonplace with its old core. However, there are always options. You can customize your frame through stickers and decals, or you can have it repainted yourself to achieve the custom look that will surely make your bike stand out when you ride it outside.

Here are some easy steps to help you paint your BMX bike frame:

Step 1: To remove your old paint, use normal sand paper. You need to strip off the old paint from your old bike to create a perfectly good surface for painting. This is an important requisite before you can start painting your BMX frame and to achieve amazing results. Every paint should be stripped off completely. While there are paint stripper compounds available in different stores, some people still prefer to use sand paper because it can give optimum results. Remember that you need to get most of your old paint off your bike and to remove the scratches from your bike.

Step 2: Use cardboard behind your frame when you are painting your BMX bike frame. One you are able to strip the color off your BMX frame, then all you need to do is to take it apart from the very minuscule part. Make sure that everything is clean before you paint and use a cardboard or anything that is harder than paper when you are painting your bike to avoid getting paint on your wall or floor. At this point, you can customize your paint colors and choose whichever you like. You can use normal spray paint for the job. Again, make sure that the can of paint that you are holding is inches away from your bike parts or BMX frame.

Step 3: To get the best effect from your paint, you need to spray your bike a couple of times. Before applying paint on a new layer, you need to wet sand parts that have unequal application of paint for optimum results.
